PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix woman accused of not adequately feeding a baby for three weeks has pleaded not guilty.

Police arrested 27-year-old Veronica Marie Diaz and her 32-year-old boyfriend Ryan Adam Morris last month.

Diaz on Wednesday pleaded not guilty in Maricopa County Superior Court to four counts of child abuse.

Court records show the 9-month-old child weighed about 7 pounds when it was taken to a hospital.

Diaz told police she ran out of baby formula and had been giving the baby bottled water during the day and some milk at night.

Morris told police that he was unable to buy more baby formula because he had other expenses.
