BRIGHTON, Colo. (AP) - A 23-year-old man has been convicted of fatally shooting the owner of a Commerce City jewelry store during a robbery in 2012.
The Adams County District Attorney’s Office says Anton Valdez was convicted Wednesday of first-degree murder, aggravated robbery and conspiracy in the May 17, 2012, death of Bernardo Saenz.
Prosecutors say Saenz was shot four times at close range when he came from a back room of La Joyeria jewelry store after he heard a glass case being broken.
Valdez is scheduled to be sentenced Friday.
