BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (AP) - Battle Creek police say a 93-year-old man has died while burning brush at his home in the western Michigan city.

WOOD-TV reports that police say emergency crews got a call about 3:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the man set some brush to burn, then got too close to the blaze on a garden tractor. They say the man and the tractor caught fire.

Police say neighbors noticed smoke, went to the house and doused the fire, but the man was already dead. His name wasn’t immediately released.
