GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Gulfport High School is planning on shedding its nearly 50-year-old buildings to make way for a completely redesigned and technology-friendly campus.
The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1g6zTwO ) the Gulfport School District on Tuesday released details on new campus layout and plan to fund the project with tax increases in the district.
The layout includes several green spaces and a fenced-in, closed campus with only four entrances to improve security. There are now 74 possible entrances.
On Monday, the school board approved a measure allowing the district to seek a $41.2 million bond to fund the project. On May 27, the district will sponsor a bond election to fund the new facilities.
If residents approve the bond election, construction could begin as soon as this fall.
