GLADSTONE, Ore. (AP) - The Gladstone police department has dismantled its police dog team after a critical report about how its only dog bit four officers in the past two years.

Police Chief Jim Pryde told city council members Tuesday night it’s a loss “in terms of crime prevention but criminal apprehension.”

KATU reports (https://bit.ly/1qqJMu8 ) handler Steve Mixson stepped down under criticism for failing to control the dog named Dyno.

A recent report found fault in training and decision making that led to Dyno biting the four officers - including Mixson - while responding to crime calls.
