GRAY, La. (AP) - Terrebonne Parish authorities say fire gutted a house in the Gray community Wednesday morning but the home’s 77-year-old occupant wasn’t hurt.

The Courier reported (https://bit.ly/1g95m52 ) Russell Alexander Griffin says he was alone at the time the fire started around 7 a.m.

Griffin says he saw smoke in a hallway and discovered the fire in the kitchen. He got out of the house.

Firefighters from Schriever put out the fire. An investigation into its cause continues.
