EAGLE POINT, Ore. (AP) - The public has a chance to comment on the idea of arming teachers at Eagle Point when the school district’s Weapons Safety Committee hold a public forum at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Hillside Elementary School.

The Mail Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1qqRzZ2 ) the committee will make a recommendation at the May 14 school board meeting.

The committee is considering a number of options to improve school safety, including allowing teachers to carry guns.
