BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - State education officials say three of four public school districts in Louisiana will take part in a bid to revamp career and technical education training.
The program, which is called Jump Start, is supposed to align school districts, two-year colleges and private firms into regional teams to prepare high school juniors and seniors for top-paying jobs.
The education department says 12 regional teams representing 52 school districts signed up.
The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1e7pg1x ) 9 of those teams representing 45 school districts applied for funding and will collect about $450,000 for the 2014-15 school year.
The three-quarters of districts signed up for Jump Start’s first year shows the overwhelming energy educators have for providing students these opportunities,” state Superintendent of Education John White said.
