ANDERSON, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say they’re investigating the death of a Lauderdale County man as a homicide.

The TimesDaily reports (https://bit.ly/1eo896m) that 62-year-old Royce Varnell was found shot inside his manufactured home.

Deputy Lauderdale County Coroner Butch Tucker said Varnell’s body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.

Investigators said it appeared Varnell was shot at least once in the head. They say Varnell, who had limited mobility, lived alone.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Ronnie Willis said the body was discovered just before noon on Monday.
