JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Police in Jacksonville have arrested a man who they say made bomb threats to schools and businesses over the past six weeks.

Onslow County sheriff’s deputies arrested 18-year-old Gerald Jackson late Monday. He is charged with 15 counts of filing false bomb threats. It’s not clear whether he has an attorney.

Authorities told a news conference Tuesday that the threats took place from Feb. 24 to April 4 and included Onslow Memorial Hospital, Wal-Mart and a handful of schools in the county. They said it cost $12,000 to respond to and process each scene.

Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown says Jackson told them he had no intention of hurting anyone, and that he was only working out frustrations. Brown said Jackson also targeted Southwest Onslow High School, which he attended.
