FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - A Fort Smith man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the shooting death of a 21-year-old woman.
The Times Record reports (https://bit.ly/1oK4WIg ) that Jonathan Lewis Jackson pleaded guilty Tuesday as part of a plea agreement in which the charge was reduced to first-degree murder. He also pleaded guilty to committing a terroristic act.
Authorities say Aley Teshay Criswell was killed in the Dec. 29, 2012, shooting when Jackson opened fire on the van she was riding in with six other people.
Jackson told police that a friend he was with at the time pointed at the van as it drove by and indicated that a person who had earlier threatened Jackson was inside it.
