TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A former Tucson police officer has filed a $2 million claim against the city, saying she was a victim of sexual harassment while on the force.
The Arizona Daily Star reported Tuesday (https://bit.ly/1eowPM1) that Andrea Middleton filed a claim against the city and its police department.
The claim is a precursor to a lawsuit.
Middleton’s claim says the Tucson Police Department allows senior commanders to date, sexually harass and physically assault new, younger female officers.
Even though Middleton reported the behavior to the department’s Internal Affairs Office, the claim states police failed to put a stop to the hostile work environment.
The seven-year veteran resigned from the police department last June after she was charged with computer tampering.
A police spokesman says the department doesn’t comment on pending litigation.
