SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. (AP) - A Spokane County sheriff’s deputy says a sheriff’s K-9 was attacked and bitten by another dog as the police dog and his handler chased a burglary suspect Monday night in Spokane Valley.

KHQ-TV reports (https://is.gd/D1NkLz) that Deputy Craig Chamberlin says the attacking dog had been tied but broke loose and charged K-9 Laslo, grabbing the working dog’s leg. Chamberlin says the Laslo’s deputy fired twice, killing the pit bull.

Laslo was taken to a vet with multiple wounds. He’s expected to make a full recovery.
