DOVER, Del. (AP) - The state House is set to vote on a bill requiring political candidates to file additional campaign finance disclosures.
The bill to be voted on Tuesday establishes June 30 as the end of a new mandatory reporting period for political campaign committees. Currently, committees have to file year-end reports and reports 30 days and eight days before an election.
Supporters say the additional reporting period will increase transparency regarding political donations and expenditures.
The bill, which was introduced last June, is part of a package of campaign finance reforms announced by Democratic lawmakers last week in response to recent investigations of improper contributions to Democratic Gov. Jack Markell and other elected officials.
Republican lawmakers unveiled their own reform proposals last month.
