BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Baton Rouge police are investigating the shooting death of a 38-year-old man whose body was found in a canal behind some houses.

Cpl. L’Jean McKneely Jr. identified the victim as Alexander Jason Scott of Baton Rouge. Scott’s body was found Tuesday about 7:30 a.m. The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/R1a7Vv) the bridge over the canal sees a lot of foot traffic.

Neighbors told investigators they heard gunshots late Monday or early Tuesday.



East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner Beau Clark says his office will conduct an autopsy on Wednesday.
