MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - The Berkeley County Roundhouse Authority is being sued by a bank over an old debt.
The lawsuit filed by BB&T seeks a $347,675 judgment against the authority.
The authority is charged with restoring and redeveloping the historic Baltimore & Ohio Railroad roundhouse complex in Martinsburg. Its debt to the bank dates back more than 10 years.
Under a 2012 settlement, the authority was to make three annual $50,000 payments to resolve the debt.
The authority made the first payment in January 2013. It then lost a lease with the West Virginia National Guard due to federal budget cuts and didn’t make this year’s payment.
Authority chairwoman Laura Gassler declined comment to The Herald-Mail (https://bit.ly/1g1bfRE ) of Hagerstown, Md., saying she hadn’t seen the lawsuit.
