VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - A judge has decided to stay legal proceedings against a woman accused of shooting and injuring her former supervisor at a Veterans Affairs office in Vancouver.

Deborah Lennon’s court-appointed attorney says she suffers from a major mental illness. The court will await a psychiatrist’s review of Lennon’s mental condition before proceeding.

The Columbian reports (https://bit.ly/OyIiBA ) a review hearing of Lennon’s mental competency is scheduled for May 15.

Until she’s found competent, Lennon may not be arraigned on charges of attempted murder, stalking, cyberstalking and first-degree assault.

In February, police say Lennon went to Allen Bricker’s fourth-floor office and shot him twice in the chest with a handgun.

Veterans Affairs officials say Lennon is a former employee of the office and another employee wrested away her gun.
