WESTMINSTER, Calif. (AP) - A man who allegedly killed a 12-year-old girl while fleeing police in Orange County has been charged with murder.

Prosecutors on Monday also charged Aleksandar Apostolovic (Ah-POSS’-tuh-LOH’-vich) with aggravated assault on a peace officer, evading police, hit-and-run and burglary.

Apostolovic, a convicted burglar, faces 35 years to life in prison if convicted.

Westminster police say they tried to stop an SUV that Apostolovic was driving last Thursday to arrest him on a warrant but he rammed the patrol car and drove off.

Authorities say Apostolovic hit two cars in an intersection a few blocks away, killing Vivian Nguyen (WIN’) and injuring her mother and brother.

He was arrested hours later hiding under some bushes in a backyard.
