STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Supervisors in Oktibbeha County have promoted Comptroller Emily Garrard to county administrator in a 4-1 vote.

The Commercial Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1iqbC6D ) reports board President Orlando Trainer had pushed for former Jackson deputy chief administrator Ivory Williams and Monday cast the only vote against Garrard.

The board did not set Garrard’s salary but she was expected to begin work immediately.

The supervisors trimmed a candidate pool of more than 30 to five finalists earlier this year.
