CROSS LANES, W.Va. (AP) - Police say a Kanawha County couple has been arrested after a 5-year-old shot his 4-year-old sister in the arm.
Kanawha County Sheriff’s Cpl. Brian Humphreys says 23-year-old John L. Seymour and 24-year-old Tabitha L. Bowen of Cross Lanes were charged Monday with child neglect resulting in risk of serious bodily injury.
Humphreys says the shooting at the home is believed to be accidental and the injuries to the girl’s left arm aren’t life threatening.
Humphreys says the girl was taken to Thomas Memorial Hospital around 10:30 a.m. Monday. He says hospital staff then alerted authorities.
Child Protective Services officials also are investigating.
