FORSYTH, Ga. (AP) - The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice officials is hosting a ceremony to honor National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

Officials said in a statement that the department is hosting an event at Tift College in Forsyth Monday at 10 a.m. Department officials say the annual event is meant to honor crime victims and increase public awareness of victims’ rights.

The department is also hosting an open house from noon to 4 p.m. to give victims and other visitors information about services and compensation that may be available to victims of violent crimes.



Visitors may also make appointments with the Georgia Crime Victims Compensation to discuss the status of a claim, or determine if they’re eligible for benefits.

National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is from April 6-12.
