HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Huntsville police say an 83-year-old man told them he shot an intruder in his home.

Al.com reports (https://bit.ly/1e4Lpxm ) the man told police a man came to his home around 12:30 a.m. Saturday. The resident said the man said he needed help but kicked out the glass in the door and forced his way in when the resident went to call 911.

The resident said he got his handgun and fired a shot that hit the alleged intruder in the chest. The resident said the man then dove out the window and ran away. Police couldn’t find him.



The resident of the home wasn’t injured and faces no charges.
