MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - U.S. Coast Guard officials say a grounded container vessel has prompted a traffic restriction on the Mobile Ship Channel.

Coast Guard officials said in a statement Monday that the MSC Kyoto was grounded outside the Mobile Ship Channel, possibly because of a steering failure. Coast Guard officials say traffic has been restricted between buoys 36 and 38.

The agency is restricting vessels with drafts of more than 30 feet from moving through the channel, and other vessels are being allowed to pass through one at a time.

U.S. Coast Guard officials say no injuries or pollution have been reported, and the incident is under investigation.
