LEWES, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a 16-year-old Milton girl is facing charges after she led troopers on a pursuit through Lewes and Rehoboth.

Police say a trooper tried to stop a Chevrolet Impala that was operating erratically on Route 1 near Dartmouth Road early Monday. But when the trooper tried to stop the car, police say the driver took off and began making abrupt lane changes.

The car stopped, but then suddenly made a U-turn and traveled northbound in southbound lanes for a time, before crossing the median into northbound lanes. After a front tire blew out, police took the teen into custody.

The teen was charged with several offenses, including driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding. She is being held at Stevenson House Detention Center on $3,041 bail.
