WENDELL, N.C. (AP) - Investigators say a man awaiting trial on charges he assaulted a law officers has escaped from custody.

Wendell Police say 27-year-old Kevin Jones was in regular clothes when he escaped around 3 p.m. Saturday near WakeMed hospital in Raleigh. Police did not release any details on how Jones got away from officers.

Jones faces several charges including assault on a law enforcement officer, obstructing a law enforcement officer and a probation violation.
