LORAIN, Ohio (AP) - The Ohio Attorney General’s Office has given an $85,000 grant to a new nonprofit home for homeless veterans trying to get back on their feet.
Valor Home is set to open May 1 in Lorain in northeastern Ohio.
It will have 30 beds for transitional housing for homeless veterans.
The $85,000 grant, announced this week, is planned to be used to help make improvements to the home. That will include remodeling the basement, fixing the roof and repairing damages from a burst pipe.
In addition to transitional housing, Valor Home will also help veterans get drug and alcohol counseling, vocational training and other services.
Attorney General Mike DeWine says veterans have given so much and deserve a helping hand after their service.
