NEW VIENNA, Iowa (AP) - Police have arrested a 27-year-old eastern Iowa man accused of attacking several members of his family, including his infant son and his 50-year-old mother.

The Dubuque Telegraph Herald reports (https://bit.ly/PwEIsU ) that officers were called to a New Vienna house early Friday. Investigators say Troy Devore had assaulted his 4-month-old son and a 26-year-old woman, punching her in the face several times before choking her.

Investigators say he assaulted his mother, 29-year-old brother and 54-year-old stepfather when they tried to intervene. Police say Devore caused injuries ranging from bruises to possible broken ribs.

Devore had left the house before officers arrived. A Dyersville police officer sustained an ankle injury while trying to subdue Devore before he was arrested. Devore is charged with four assault counts, child endangerment and other charges.
