BLOOMINGDALE, N.J. (AP) - A northern New Jersey woman who allegedly held her two young children hostage inside their home is facing criminal charges.
Susan O’Connor surrendered to police after the approximately 90-minute incident on March 25 in Bloomingdale. Authorities said they recovered multiple weapons at the scene.
The 48-year-old O’Connor allegedly called 911 after her husband left for work and threatened to harm herself and her two children, who are aged 5 and 7. Neither child suffered injuries.
Local police and SWAT team members from Passaic County responded to the scene.
The Passaic County prosecutor’s office tells The Star-Ledger (https://bit.ly/1jghK3t) that O’Connor has been charged with two counts of child endangerment, one weapons count and two counts of child abuse and neglect. Her bail was set at $250,000.
