MESA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a Mesa woman has been severely injured after trying to stop her two dogs from fighting.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office says the woman was trying to break up a fight between her pit bull and Rottweiler Friday night when one of them bit her in the left forearm.

According to the Rural/Metro Fire Department, the woman had to be taken by helicopter to a Scottsdale hospital for serious bites in her left wrist and forearm.

Her injuries are non-life-threatening.

Authorities say the dogs are being contained at the owner’s home with her approval.

They are not identifying the woman.
