MARTINEZ, Calif. (AP) - A teen driver convicted of running over and killing a father and daughter who were on their bicycles has been sued, along with his parents.

In October 2012, the 17-year-old teen was convicted of two felony counts of vehicular manslaughter and received the maximum sentence for a minor that will keep him behind bars until he turns 21.

The defendant admitted to driving his Cadillac Escalade at a high speed when he hit 41-year-old Solaiman Nuri and his 9-year-old daughter, Hadessa as they were riding on a Concord sidewalk that April.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1ozJupk) that on Friday Nuri’s widow, Stoorai Nuri, and their surviving daughter Hannah filed a lawsuit against the teen and his parents in Contra Costa County Superior Court.
