SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A few schools in eastern South Dakota are starting classes late, but a snow storm that passed through the region was not nearly as severe as expected.
National Weather Service reports show only a few inches of snow in most locations from the Thursday storm, which forecasters say shifted more to the east.
It was the third snowfall in the state this week. A system that passed through late Sunday into early Tuesday dumped several inches of snow in western and northeastern South Dakota, and western South Dakota got up to 8 inches on Wednesday.
The snow isn’t likely to stick around for long, with high temperatures statewide in the 30s, 40s and 50s through the weekend.
