ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Police in Asheville have charged a man with misdemeanor death by vehicle after an accident in which a moped driver was killed.

A statement from police said 53-year-old Dimitriy Vasilyevich Stynka was driving a 1981 Oldsmobile which collided with a moped driven by 26-year-old Graham Smith Shepley on March 21.

Investigators said Stynka was making a left turn when his car collided with the moped. Shepley died at the scene.



Stynka is also charged with failure to yield right of way. He is being held under a $5,000 bond, and it’s not known if he has an attorney. He is scheduled to appear in court in May
