PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - The Oregon Department of Forestry has picked Liz Dent to be the next chief of its State Forests Division.

Dent has been the division’s deputy chief for nearly two years. She has a master’s degree in forest hydrology from Oregon State University and has been with the Forestry Department since 1995.

The division she now heads is responsible for managing nearly 850,000 acres of state-owned forestland, most of it in six state forests in western and central Oregon.
