NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - Two North Las Vegas firefighters are injured after falling through the roof of a burning fourplex.
Crews say they responded to the fire about 3 p.m. Thursday and started to cut a hole in the roof. That’s when authorities say the smoke suddenly became a raging fire, and one of the firefighters fell through the roof with flames surrounding him.
A second firefighter partially fell through but regained his balance and grabbed his partner out of the fire by his air pack.
Crews say the fallen firefighter’s clothing protected him from more serious injury.
The two firefighters were taken to University Medical Center in stable condition.
People inside the home were able to escape and weren’t injured.
The home itself is a complete loss. The cause is under investigation.
