CHALMETTE, La. (AP) - Authorities in St. Bernard Parish say foul play is not suspected in the death of a female inmate at the parish prison.
Sheriff James Pohlmann tells The New Orleans Advocate (https://bit.ly/1jBW0jq ) that 19-year-old Nimali Henry had been jailed for almost two weeks after a domestic dispute.
She was found unresponsive on the floor of her cell at about 8 a.m. Tuesday. Pohlmann says officials tried to revive Henry but she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Records show Henry was arrested March 21 after a disturbance at a home in the 1800 block of Suzi Drive. She was booked with disturbing the peace, simple battery and unauthorized entry.
