EAGLE, Colo. (AP) - Authorities have confirmed that a body found in Colorado’s mountains is that of a missing hiker from Indiana.

Thirty-nine-year-old James C. McGrogan of Chesterton, Ind. disappeared March 14 after he got separated from a group hiking to a backcountry hut. His body was found Thursday north of Vail by a group of backcountry skiers about 4 ½ miles from the trail.

Coroner Kara Bettis said Friday that an autopsy must still be done to determine how he died.

McGrogan was a physician who recently returned to Indiana from Wisconsin to work in the emergency room of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka (mish-ah-WAH’-kuh).

Fellow hikers said he had food, water, medical supplies, a GPS and other tools. A five-day search failed to find any sign of him.
