DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - A south Alabama woman is being held on $2 million bond after allegedly setting fire to the bed where her boyfriend was sleeping.

Dothan police say 54-year-old Gracie Mae Johnson is charged with attempted arson and attempted murder.

Authorities say Johnson set fire to a bed while her boyfriend was asleep on it. The man escaped without serious injuries, but he had to be treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.

The Dothan Eagle (https://bit.ly/1k8MQh4 ) reports that Johnson says the fire was an accident. She wants to plead not guilty.

Speaking during a court hearing Thursday, Johnson said she loves the man and didn’t try to kill him.

Police haven’t released the man’s name.
