MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - A second person has died from a collision near Gold Hill that police believe was caused by an impaired driver.

The Mail Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1k7tvg5 ) 80-year-old Jerry Vernon Barrett of Medford died Wednesday night of injuries suffered earlier in the day when his car was struck by a car sliding out of control on a curve near the town northeast of Medford.

A passenger in that car, 40-year-old Joe David Campos of Grants Pass, died at the scene.

The Jackson County sheriff’s office says the driver of the car at fault is a 32-year-old Grants Pass woman who was speeding. Investigators believe alcohol and drugs were involved. She was reported in critical condition Thursday at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center.
