EAST FARMINGDALE, N.Y (AP) - Police on Long Island are investigating a hit-and-run accident that left a pedestrian in critical condition.

Suffolk County police say it occurred in East Farmingdale Tuesday night.

The victim, a male in his 60s, was walking on Wellwood Avenue when he was struck by a Mercedes Benz.



Police say the driver got out to try to stop traffic when a second vehicle also struck the pedestrian and then fled.

The victim was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was treated for head and internal injuries.

The driver of the Mercedes was not charged.
