PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say a man was shot and killed after a resident said he came home and found a group of armed men in his west Philadelphia home.

Police said officers were called to the Wynnefield section of the city at about 10 p.m. Tuesday and found a man in his 20s dead of a gunshot wound. A 22-year-old resident of the home was shot in the leg.

The man told police that he and his girlfriend came home to find four or five men inside, some armed and some wearing masks.

Chief Inspector Scott Small said a gun battle ensued, but it’s unclear who fired the shots. He said the other suspects fled and the woman was unhurt.

Small said the men apparently got in through a first-floor window.
