MINOT, N.D. (AP) - A North Dakota man accused in two separate assaults against women has been sentenced to more than four years in federal prison.

Waylon Gardner, of Mandaree, pleaded guilty in January to assault of a spouse or intimate partner resulting in substantial bodily injury, and assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

Authorities say the incidents happened last spring in Mandaree and Parshall. One of his victims was knocked unconscious and another was stabbed.



U.S. District Judge Daniel Hovland sentenced Gardner to 49 months in prison and ordered him to pay $3,600 in restitution.
