SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - A coastal Georgia woman has been sentenced in a crash that killed a Bryan County sheriff’s deputy in June 2012.

Patricia Ann Collins was sentenced to 15 years on Tuesday in the death of Deputy Sgt. Robert Warren Crapse. The woman is ordered to spend seven years of her sentence in prison.

The Savannah Morning News reports (https://bit.ly/1meeHZU ) 25-year-old Collins pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and DUI. Investigators have said 32-year-old Crapse was killed when the car Collins was driving on I-95 hit his police cruiser head-on.



Video that was captured by another deputy showed that Crapse was pulled from the cruiser just before it burst into flames.

Collins read from a prepared letter in court and apologized to Crapse’s relatives, friends and former co-workers.
