LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - The trial of a 38-year-old Lafayette woman charged with prostituting a child who was younger than 12 years old has been continued until September.
The Advertiser reports (https://bit.ly/1fxM4Iz) Katherine Vidrine remains in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center since her arrest by state police in June. On April 15, the Public Defender’s Office filed a motion to reduce Vidrine’s $70,000 bond and postpone her trial to a later date.
Her attorney, Edward Marquet, filed a motion to postpone Vidrine’s trial to afford more time to prepare her defense. District Judge Glennon Everett granted the motion on Monday.
Vidrine’s trail is now scheduled to begin on Sept. 2.
If convicted of human trafficking, Vidrine could be fined up to $75,000 and be sentenced to 50 years in prison.
