FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Police at the University of Arkansas have stepped up on-campus security after receiving a report from a person who said he overheard a conversation at a local bar of a man claiming there would be a shooting on campus.

Police said the threatened shooting was supposed to happen Wednesday.

Officials say the threat doesn’t appear to be credible, but still advised the campus to be on alert and report any suspicious activity to police.

Police said extra patrols have been added to the Fayetteville campus. The school was not placed on lockdown and classes were held as normal.
