MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Mobile police say a teen who was carrying a gun near a school is facing weapons charges and is being held in a youth detention center.

Department spokeswoman Ashley Rains (https://bit.ly/PRTGJx ) says a Davidson High School administrator saw the boy carrying a gun at an intersection Tuesday afternoon and notified staff at nearby Denton Middle School.

Authorities were sent to the school and the boy was charged with carrying a gun without a permit.

Police say the boy is being held in the Strickland Youth Center.
