BALTIMORE (AP) - Police say they believe a man carrying a camera tripod was mistaken for an armed person at the campus of two Baltimore charter schools, prompting a lockdown and evacuation.
Baltimore Police Department spokesman Sgt. Eric Kowalczyk said Thursday afternoon that as a precaution, a SWAT team will clear the school after students go to a nearby high school to be reunited with their parents.
Kowalczyk says there was a report Thursday morning of an armed person at the campus that houses KIPP Baltimore’s Ujima Village and Harmony academies.
KIPP Baltimore says on its Facebook page that students saw a potential intruder, but all students are safe.
