CORINTH, Miss. (AP) - Todd Witt, the director of Corinth parks and recreation since January 1989, is retiring.

Witt tells The Daily Corinthian (https://bit.ly/1lDJ2UM ) that he expects to leave around May 15.

Butch Carmichiel, chairman of the Corinth-Alcorn County Parks and Recreation Commission, says the board will advertise the position with applications due May 1.

Witt says he is taking a job as a sales representative for a manufacturer in the shooting, hunting and outdoor gear industry.

Carmichiel says if there is a gap between Witt’s departure and the arrival of his replacement, Assistant Director Kathy Berry will be in charge of daily operations.

Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation or a closely related field. Four years of administrative experience in the parks and recreation setting is required.
