NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Law enforcement authorities in northern New Jersey have charged a man with sexually assaulting a 10-year-old child.
The Essex County prosecutor’s office says Alejandro Yupa Buri was arrested Wednesday.
The 19-year-old Irvington resident is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault and one count of endangering the welfare a of child.
It’s not immediately clear if he has retained an attorney.
Prosecutors allege the sexual assaults against the 10-year-old took place at a family gathering in August 2013.
Yupa Buri is currently in custody at the Essex County Correctional Facility. A judge has not yet set bail or an initial court date for the case.
