NEENAH, Wis. (AP) - A 19-year-old man faces two felonies in connection with an Oconto County crash that killed his friend.
Post-Crescent Media reports (https://post.cr/PokAZS ) Zachary J. E. Romnek is charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and knowingly operating a motor vehicle while suspended-causing death.
Nineteen-year-old Thorton L. Gressler of Bonduel died at the crash scene in the town of Riverview, about eight miles northeast of Mountain.
The criminal complaint says the crash occurred around 2:25 a.m. Saturday when Romnek’s pickup truck went off the road and rolled into a tree.
If convicted of both charges, he could face a maximum sentence of 31 years.
Romnek made an initial appearance in Oconto County Circuit Court Monday afternoon, where a judge set $5,000 cash bond.
