NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - A Cleveland County commissioner who was the subject of a grand jury investigation - but not charged with a crime - now says he won’t run for re-election.
Commissioner Rusty Sullivan announced Wednesday that he will not seek a third term in office. Earlier this week, Sullivan rejected calls for his resignation and said he would file for re-election.
Sullivan said in a statement to The Norman Transcript (https://bit.ly/Of6WqY ) that “it’s time to move on.”
A grand jury report accused Sullivan of improperly accepting a $19,900 payment for damages to his property, but said the statute of limitations had expired for him to be charged with a crime.
Sullivan said he did not accept the maximum amount offered for his property and voluntarily donated land for the project.
